The confinement

The confinement

I am now officially on maternity leave, or as my workplace likes to put it, in my ‘confinement period’.  I’m both amused and appalled by the term, as it feels a little archaic in this day and age.  To me it conjures images of a woman in a 19th century white cotton nightgown, sitting up in a four poster bed, gazing out of a window and watching the world go by.  In actual fact my leave so far has been anything but that…

Second trimester diary

Second trimester diary

I can’t quite believe I’ve now hit the third trimester of pregnancy.  Instead of counting the weeks up, Adam and I counting the weeks down until we meet out little person.

The second trimester is often described as the ‘golden period’ of pregnancy – where that first trimester sickness has abated, but the aches and pains of the third trimester haven’t quite taken hold.

For me personally, it was very much a trimester of two halves…
