I’m Melinda Hayter, the author of Wattle and Ash.

One day, unbeknown to me, I was set up on a blind date with an Englishman called Adam at a dusty race meet in western New South Wales, Australia.  We fell in love and agreed we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.  After almost a year living in my hometown of Wagga Wagga, we’ve decided to move to Adam’s home county of Worcestershire to try out life in the United Kingdom.

This blog is about our cross-hemisphere adventure, setting up a life in a foreign land and discovering new places and people.

Up until our move I worked as a journalist with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where I got to tell the stories of regional Australia on the radio, online and on television.

I can’t wait to share our journey with you.
