Wagga Wagga to Worcestershire & back again
After months of fires, smoky conditions and heatwaves, I’m rather glad this summer is over. Although it’s been a special time for catching up with friends and family, and watching my little boy grow and develop, I’m craving cooler nights, cosy days and hopefully a bit of rain.

The bushfires which affected Australia this summer made headlines around the world. While the immediate danger is over, hundreds of communities are now facing a lengthy recovery. Some people have lost homes, others have had their farms razed and in the fire nearest to where Adam, Paul and I live, entire pine plantations have been burnt, which will make things tough for the local timber industry.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when so many areas are hurting, but one of the easiest ways to help is to go and visit these communities. So, earlier this month that’s exactly what we did…
Last week Adam asked me if I wanted to go to Tumut, in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, one day over the weekend. He had an inspection to complete at work, and was going to run out of time to get in done though the week. He thought we’d make a day of it and get out of the town for the day. The next day he said to me ‘Why don’t we stay the night, make a proper weekend of it?’ So we we did…

The other week, Adam and I managed to sneak in a Friday morning breakfast date. Although it would have been lovely to have the entire morning to linger over our meal, the hour or so we had alone was just wonderful and the perfect way to start the wind down to the weekend…
The other week Adam and I took a drive south to Albury, on the New South Wales / Victorian border. Our purpose was to scout out a baby superstore to start to get our heads around just what we’ll need when our little person arrives in September.
It turned into though, the most wonderful day out – complete with a picnic dinner on the banks of the Murray River…
It’s been a long and busy week, filled with nights away from home and day-trips. I did manage to sneak in a few quiet moments though.

Adam and I have just got back to Wagga Wagga after a lovely week away. We didn’t get up to much – just lots of napping, reading, and swimming with a touch of socialising. It was just what we both needed.
