Local life: A weekend in Beechworth

I found myself with an unexpected three day weekend last week on account on working some overtime. It couldn’t have come at a better time really. Both Adam and I were at the tail end of an exceptionally busy couple of weeks at work and we’d both just recovered from head-colds. Instead of hunkering down at home for a few days, we decided to make the most of the bonus day and treat ourselves to a long-weekend away.

I found a lovely bed and breakfast in Beechworth, Victoria – a charming, historic town about two hours drive from Wagga Wagga.  We made a reservation, and on Friday we headed south…

Koala spotting

Adam and I lucky enough to live relatively close to colony of koalas.  The koalas were brought into a reserve on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River near Narrandera in the 1970s, after local native populations died out.  They’ve remained there ever since, happily munching on the leaves of the giant gum trees that reside in the area.

Before we flew up to Queensland with Adam’s mum and step-dad, we decided to all head over the reserve one afternoon, to see if we could spot a koala or two…

Hello 2018!

It’s a new year and with it comes new goals, expectations and plans. For me it’ll be about readjusting to life after a year abroad, preparing for my upcoming nuptials, creating a home that reflects both my fiancé and I, and discovering and revisiting new and old places in south-western New South Wales.
