A mini gallery

A mini gallery

This past weekend I ticked off one of those jobs that’d been sitting on my to-do list for months.  It was one I was super enthusiastic about, that just got put off when my first trimester sickness kicked in, and the put off some more.

The funny thing is, it wasn’t a hard or cumbersome job, it was actually something nice – mounting some new artworks…

Clean and rearrange

Clean and rearrange

I’ve become a bit of a homebody these last few weeks, and to be honest I’ve loved it. The end of last year was busy with my wedding, I worked all through Christmas and New Year, and this month’s been so hot, so I’ve been relishing having quiet time at home.

In pottering about, I’ve started to deep-clean and rearrange a few areas of the house, starting with a set of shelves in the sitting room…

A little lounge love

A little lounge love

When Adam and I moved back to Australia one of our first purchases was a new sofa.  It’s one of those pieces of furniture you end up using so very much, so we wanted it to a) be super comfortable and b) reflect the style and vision we had for our home together.

After a day or so trawling furniture stores across the Canberra, the one we both decided we liked the best ended up being from that famous Swedish superstore ;).

We got it back to Wagga Wagga, assembled it and threw on the cushions from our existing sofa. While they didn’t look bad, the cushions were years old and had started to enter that ‘pancake’ stage. I vowed I was going to replace them and this past weekend I finally got around to giving the lounge that little bit of love it deserves…

Twigs, leaves and sticks

Twigs, leaves and sticks

Winter blew in over the weekend, bringing with it foggy mornings, chilly temperatures and light rain.  In some parts it was even cold enough for snow – but more on that later this week!

The cool grey days were a welcome tonic to me after an eight day work week. They justified my lingering morning coffees in bed and afternoons snuggled up on the couch with a book.  In those peaceful moments, as I glanced around the house, I noticed though there was nothing ‘living’ inside – no bunches of flowers, no houseplants.

When the weather is so bleak outside, sometimes having brightly coloured blooms inside doesn’t quite feel so I decided I’d use the season for inspiration and create some more winter appropiate bouquets…

Shelf life

Shelf life

When Adam and I moved back into our Australian home I decided I wanted to replace our old bookshelf  (a flatpack I’d bought and put together in my 20s, which had sustained a number of house moves and was starting to look a little sad) with something that better reflected our style as a couple and fitted into the space we had.

I’d been eyeing off pretty stylised floating shelf set-ups on my Pinterest and Instagram pages for months and decided I’d found the solution.

Thankfully Adam was keen too, so last weekend out came the drill and up went the shelves…

A mid-week celebration

A mid-week celebration

Eating on the couch always feels like a decadent treat.  Plate or bowl balanced on your lap, you can snuggle in and enjoy your meal, normally in my case while binge watching something on Netflix.

Six weeks of eating on the couch is another story… Adam and I sold our dining table before we moved to England and last week our new one was finally delivered.  We hadn’t realised how much we’d missed eating at a proper table and to celebrate we decided to throw a mid-week dinner party…
