What’s making me happy: May

What’s making me happy: May

Although there’s still nearly a fortnight left, this month has felt good. The world’s felt a little lighter, the weather’s been perfect (chilly nights and just warm enough days) and there’s been lots to look forward to. This is what’s been making me smile in May…

An isolation project

An isolation project

Last week while I was putting away Paul’s washing I pulled out one of his old bassinet sheets. It wasn’t really a sheet per se, rather a beautiful piece of woodblock printed cotton from India that Paul had received as a gift at Christmas time. Since he’s moved from his bassinet into his cot the sheet hasn’t been used.  The main part of the material is a beautiful repeating pattern in dark khaki and rich light blue of a plant, almost dahlia like.  I decided it was too pretty to sit in the cupboard, so pulled it out and set to working on a little project…

A night out, in

A night out, in

Last Christmas Adam and I were given a gift certificate for one of our favourite local restaurants, The Roundabout. Hot cross buns

Hot cross buns

The Easter weekend was a combination of brilliant sunshine and windy, grey days – the epitome of autumn weather in our part of Australia. It felt good to hunker down at home, binge watch a bit of television (Sky One’s Trollied on streaming channel Stan) and tuck into warm, comforting food. Hot cross buns are a favourite in our house in the lead-up to Easter but instead of buying them this year, Adam decided he wanted to bake them…

The week that was

The week that was

How’s isolation life treating you?  I find have days where I enjoy being within in the confines of four walls – warm, content and protected from the outside world.  Other days I feel claustrophobic and yearn for normality and the ability to just go and do as I please.   It is what it is though and like all challenging situations I know this too will pass.

Here’s how my last seven days have looked…
