Wagga Wagga to Worcestershire & back again
July 2020 has been a bittersweet month – we were meant to fly to England to spend time with Adam’s family, it’s my final month of maternity leave and unfortunately it feels like COVID-19 is starting to strengthen its grip on Australia again. Despite the sadness and anxiousness that the above has evoked at times, I’ve had some really lovely moments too.
This is what’s made me smile in July…
After months of fires, smoky conditions and heatwaves, I’m rather glad this summer is over. Although it’s been a special time for catching up with friends and family, and watching my little boy grow and develop, I’m craving cooler nights, cosy days and hopefully a bit of rain.
I watched the sun set on this unforgettable season in a local park, on a picnic blanket, watching the world go by…
In my experience there are people who love rifling through second shops or markets and those who are completely nonplussed by the whole venture. I’ve always been interested in stories from the past, so for me looking at old bits and pieces also invokes questions about the object’s history – who owned it, was it special to them, how did it come into their ownership?
Over the weekend Malvern’s Three Counties Showground hosted a huge flea fair, so I decided to go for a look…
Monday of this week was a bank holiday in England. Adam and I both had the day off, so took advantage of our free time to visit the Great Malvern Food Festival. When I lived in Australia, Wagga Wagga’s annual food and wine festival was one of my favourite events of the year so I was keen to check out my new community’s version.
