Wagga Wagga to Worcestershire & back again
The other week Adam and I got an unexpected invitation for a Sunday lunch in the little town of Sutton, just outside of Canberra.

Just before Easter I decided I was going to try and undertake an experiment with my wardrobe.
I learnt about the 10 x 10 challenge initially through Lee and Caroline’s blogs. Essentially it’s about taking 10 items from your wardrobe and wearing them, and only them, for 10 days. Lee created the challenge in 2015 during a month long shopping fast, as a way to garner a new appreciation for what you already own.
I’ve followed numerous challenges (held quarterly) online and always been super impressed at what you can do with just 10 items of clothing, and finally plucked up the courage to give it a go myself…
While I love the excitement about planning a long holiday months in advance, there’s also something quite thrilling about an impromptu get away – even if it’s for a few days.
One day last week, Adam and I made the snap decision to head for Canberra for the weekend. So on Friday after we’d both finished work for the week, we threw a few clothes in a bag, jumped in the car and drove east…
I’ve always been able to fall asleep of a night-time fairly easily, but a few weeks ago I started waking up in the early hours of the morning. I’d toss and turn and doze off occasionally, but never go back into a proper sleep and would be jerked into a hazy reality when my alarm went off at 4:45am.
After a week or so of wandering around in a trance I decided I needed to take action…

I love the Easter break. In my family it’s always been about hiding away for a few days at home to take it easy, eat good food, indulge a little and enjoy the start of cool nights and gloriously comfortable days.
Although I returned to the office this morning, to have three days off in a row was luxurious. I’ve been starting work at 5:30am which means a before 5:00am alarm, so I currently consider sleeping past 6:00am as a ‘lie-in’!
Adam and I can’t really remember the last time we had a few days to do as much or as little as we wanted. Here’s a peak of what we got up to…
Sometimes you stumble across places that not only amaze you while you’re there, but linger in your memory in the weeks and months afterwards.
For me one such place is the Huisinis Gateway on the Isle of Harris – a very special camping ground Adam and I stayed at during our road trip through Scotland last year (read more here and here).
The site had opened only weeks before our visit and we took a gamble going, but I now feel so incredibly lucky to have been one of the first people to have stayed at this wonderful spot…
Every March, nestled around the banks of the Wollundry Lagoon in the centre of the city, Wagga Wagga plays host to an annual food and wine festival.
It’s always been a regular on my social calendar and this year I was thrilled to be able to introduce Adam to a ‘Wagga’ event that I’d always enjoyed…

Adam has been away with work this week, so I’ve been taking advantage of the opportunity to cook myself some of my favourite solo suppers.
There has been Tasmanian grown salmon (which Adam can’t stand the smell of), salads full of caramelised roast vegetables, a golden turmeric tinged pilaf and a carbonara that feels oh-so-indulgent…
When I moved to England I quickly learnt that single use plastic bags were well on the way out. All big retailers in the U.K. are required by law to charge for that type of plastic bag. Although it was never a big fee, it became something I was mindful of and I quickly purchased reusable carrier bags, one of which I ended up using on almost a daily basis. I became so attached to that one bag, it made its way back to Australia with me…
When Adam and I moved back into our Australian home I decided I wanted to replace our old bookshelf (a flatpack I’d bought and put together in my 20s, which had sustained a number of house moves and was starting to look a little sad) with something that better reflected our style as a couple and fitted into the space we had.
I’d been eyeing off pretty stylised floating shelf set-ups on my Pinterest and Instagram pages for months and decided I’d found the solution.
Thankfully Adam was keen too, so last weekend out came the drill and up went the shelves…
