Wagga Wagga to Worcestershire & back again
This weekend past Adam and I went on a fact-finding mission. Adam’s recently become involved in a project that will see him oversee a tour of an inclusive, disability friendly stage to a number of festivals around region next year. One of the events the stage will feature at is Lockhart’s Spirit of the Land festival. So to get a better understanding of the festival and scope out potential locations for the stage, we decided to go along and check it out for ourselves…
Last weekend, while on the road with work, I found myself driving past a local lookout I’d never visited before. I had plenty of time to get back to the office, so I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and go and check it out…
For the second time in as many weeks, Adam and I have had house guests. This time it was Adam’s second cousin Joe, who’s recently relocated to Australia. Joe’s had one brief visit to Wagga Wagga before, but Adam and I were keen to show him what life was like here for a pair of young professionals.

Ever since I got engaged, I’ve maintained I’m fairly clueless bride-to-be. I never really dreamed about my wedding day and although Adam and I are really enjoying putting together a day of celebration for family and friends, we’re trying to make it a low-key, intimate affair.

A few weeks ago I received an email reminding me I had a voucher to spend an online retailer specialising in books, music and films. I’d totally forgotten I’d received the voucher, so it felt like a real windfall – a chance to treat myself to something new to devour.

I normally relish my mornings over the weekend. For a large portion of this year my alarm has gone off at 4:45am Monday through to Friday; so that ability to wake up when your body is ready, linger in bed with a coffee and to quietly plan the day ahead is something I utterly enjoy.
On Sunday though, Adam and I decided to forgo our slow morning, in favour of something a little more active. We rose in the dark, threw on sneakers and waterproof jackets and jumped in the car with our friend Clint and drove about 20 minutes south of Wagga Wagga, where we embarked on a little dawn bush walk…
I found myself with an unexpected three day weekend last week on account on working some overtime. It couldn’t have come at a better time really. Both Adam and I were at the tail end of an exceptionally busy couple of weeks at work and we’d both just recovered from head-colds. Instead of hunkering down at home for a few days, we decided to make the most of the bonus day and treat ourselves to a long-weekend away.
I found a lovely bed and breakfast in Beechworth, Victoria – a charming, historic town about two hours drive from Wagga Wagga. We made a reservation, and on Friday we headed south…
For many years, the little town of Jugiong has been a favourite rest stop of mine on the Hume Highway. Roughly half way between Wagga Wagga and Canberra, I often treat myself to a coffee and a browse around Long Track Pantry, en route to visit my brother, who lives in the A.C.T.
Last year through Instagram I discovered the old pub a few doors up from Long Track was being renovated. Living in Worcestershire at the time made it a little hard to visit, but as soon as Adam and I returned from England, The Sir George, was added to my list of places to explore.
A couple of weekends ago, Adam and I decided to organise a rendezvous with my brother in Jugiong for Sunday lunch so we could check out The Sir George for ourselves…
It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen it, I still find snow utterly magical. There’s something just so wonderful about watching giant flakes quietly descending from the sky and settling on the land below, turning it into a wintry wonderland.

The other week I found myself in Temora– a little town about an hour north of my home in Wagga Wagga. Adam had a meeting to attend, so I took advantage of a day off work to keep him company on the drive up.
After taking a leisurely wander down the main street and discovering some lovely things in this gem of a shop I ventured further afield, and took a stroll down a few of Temora’s laneways…
