What’s making me happy: October

What’s making me happy: October

October’s felt both long and short. I’ve had a really, really busy few weeks at work which has made the time feel like it’s whizzing by. At the same time though, the entire household’s been sick which has made some days feel oh-so-drawn-out. In between it all, there’ve been some lovely moments though – here’s what’s been making me smile this month…

What’s making me happy: September

What’s making me happy: September

We’re three-quarters through the year, and I can’t quite believe we’re on the cusp of that countdown towards summer, Christmas and the end of the year. September seems to have just flown by. Adam’s business is the busiest its ever been, my weeks are split between ‘work-work’ and ‘home-work’ and it honestly feels like life is moving at double speed at the moment.

While downtime feels like it’s been particularly hard to find these last few weeks, I’m trying to find a balance and to look for the beauty in the everyday. This is what’s been making me smile this month…

What’s making me happy: August

What’s making me happy: August

August always seems like such a fickle month.  Reminding you one day, that it’s still winter (cue lashing rain and wind) and then teasing you the next with sunny skies, and just a hint of warm breeze.  A month where you know you’ll be wearing your winter woollies most days, but you keep on seeing pretty, floral dresses and daydreaming of bare legs.  A month where you make sure you get your fill of stodgy cold weather stews and casseroles, so you’re ready for the salad.

This is what’s been making me smile this month…

What’s making me happy: July

What’s making me happy: July

July 2020 has been a bittersweet month – we were meant to fly to England to spend time with Adam’s family, it’s my final month of maternity leave and unfortunately it feels like COVID-19 is starting to strengthen its grip on Australia again.  Despite the sadness and anxiousness that the above has evoked at times, I’ve had some really lovely moments too.

This is what’s made me smile in July…

The week that was

The week that was

It feels like midwinter is really upon us now.  The days have been grey and drizzly. The trees are bare.  And I’ve been reaching for my warmest wool jumpers.  Despite the chill, there have been some bright moments – blooming bulbs, snuggly cuddles and getting back on the exercise bandwagon.

This is how my last seven days looked…

What’s making me happy: June

What’s making me happy: June

Somehow we’re halfway through 2020 already.  Although it feels like life slowed down in the first part of the year, at the same time it’s also flown by. The start of winter has felt like a combination of freezing mornings evolving into beautifully sunny afternoons, and grey, misty days. This is what’s been making me smile this month…

What’s making me happy: May

What’s making me happy: May

Although there’s still nearly a fortnight left, this month has felt good. The world’s felt a little lighter, the weather’s been perfect (chilly nights and just warm enough days) and there’s been lots to look forward to. This is what’s been making me smile in May…

What’s making me happy: April

What’s making me happy: April

April has unsurprisingly been quiet.  As the days become shorter and the weather cooler, Adam, Paul and myself have started to settle into our new routines.  Even though this month has had its fair share of grey days, I’m thankful that our house has lots of large windows that let the light in.  Being able to look out at the sky and see the rolling hills in the very far distance provides comfort to me – a visual reminder that there is a world beyond our house and soon we’ll be able to go explore it once more.  In the meantime, this is what’s made me smile these last few weeks…

What’s making me happy: August

What’s making me happy: August

August is one of those quintessential transition months in Wagga Wagga – spring-like weather will show up for a day or two at a time, but then is punctuated by the grimmest of wintry conditions.  The days are getting start to get longer, but the mornings will still often be frosty. In this month of contrasts, this is what’s been making me smile…
