After the fire

The bushfires which affected Australia this summer made headlines around the world. While the immediate danger is over, hundreds of communities are now facing a lengthy recovery.  Some people have lost homes, others have had their farms razed and in the fire nearest to where Adam, Paul and I live, entire pine plantations have been burnt, which will make things tough for the local timber industry.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when so many areas are hurting, but one of the easiest ways to help is to go and visit these communities.  So, earlier this month that’s exactly what we did…

A mini gallery

This past weekend I ticked off one of those jobs that’d been sitting on my to-do list for months.  It was one I was super enthusiastic about, that just got put off when my first trimester sickness kicked in, and the put off some more.

The funny thing is, it wasn’t a hard or cumbersome job, it was actually something nice – mounting some new artworks…

Local life: Rabbit Books

Wagga Wagga is home to a plethora of little, independent businesses which is one of the things I really love about the city.

A new bookshop/art studio/coffee shop/cocktail bar opened up in the CBD a few months back and although I’d stuck my head in for a quick peek, I’d never taken the time to have a proper visit.  So over the weekend, Adam and I headed to Rabbit Books for a coffee date…
