The other weekend I was invited to a housewarming, birthday party and farewell gathering all rolled into one.  We weren’t having a proper sit down meal, rather a selection of small bites, with each guest asked to contribute something.

Knowing the fail safe cheese board was probably taken care of, I decided to take a flick through one of my most reliable cookbooks – The Australian Women’s Weekly Best Ever Collection. There, I discovered the recipe for baked ricotta and olives, and decided to give it a go…

Dinner, drinks and little ones

While Adam and I don’t have any children of our own yet, we know plenty of people with little ones of varying ages.

The first time we had friends over with youngsters I briefly panicked, realising we didn’t have much in the way to keep the kids entertained while the adults enjoyed food, wine and conversation.

Although most of our parent friends bring a few entertainment items with them, I still like to make our youngest guests feel at home. So over the last few months I’ve been trying to make sure whenever we have dinner party, there are a few little goodies about to ensure every member of the family has a good night…

A mid-week celebration

A mid-week celebration

Eating on the couch always feels like a decadent treat.  Plate or bowl balanced on your lap, you can snuggle in and enjoy your meal, normally in my case while binge watching something on Netflix.

Six weeks of eating on the couch is another story… Adam and I sold our dining table before we moved to England and last week our new one was finally delivered.  We hadn’t realised how much we’d missed eating at a proper table and to celebrate we decided to throw a mid-week dinner party…
