Ever since I got engaged, I’ve maintained I’m fairly clueless bride-to-be. I never really dreamed about my wedding day and although Adam and I are really enjoying putting together a day of celebration for family and friends, we’re trying to make it a low-key, intimate affair.

So when it came to discussing a ‘hens party’ I was completely stuck.  I definitely wasn’t keen on a boozy night with a heap of friends.  Thankfully my sole bridesmaid knows me very well and suggested a night away.  So this past weekend we headed south to wine country…

Pinotage and peaks

South Africa’s wine country in the Western Cape is quite simply breath-taking.  Not only is the scenery visually stunning but the towns in this beautiful part of the country look like something out a magazine, full of boutique shops and crush-worthy restaurants and sublime wineries.  Adam and I enjoyed a blissful few days exploring the area around Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and loved it so much, we’re already thinking about returning…
